With over 128 km of classic cross-country ski trails as well as 129 km of cross-country ski skating trails is Kaiserwinkl one of the Austria’s most unique cross-country ski resorts. The well-groomed cross-country ski trails are suitable for beginners and ambitious sportsmen and women alike. The healthy mountain climate in connection with the pristine landscape and clean air are just perfect for all sportsmen and women. The beautiful network of cross-country ski trails connects the villages of Kössen, Schwendt, Walchsee and Rettenschöss and offers a cross-country ski experience full of variety. Two cross-country ski trails, each measuring 2.1 km, covered in artificial snow ensure cross-country skiing pleasure even when there is little snow. The region is a member of "Tyrolean Cross-Country Ski Specialists" and boasts a modern infrastructure as well as a high level of services and many events for its guests.
Biathlon in the Kaiserwinkl
Guests can enjoy biathlon taster sessions at the Nordic Center Kössen every Friday. Private biathlon lessons are available anytime by appointment.

Snowshoe hiking in the Kaiserwinkl
5 mapped snowshoe hiking trails away from the masses and leading through the snow-covered, tranquil Tyrolean mountain world can be found in the Kaiserwinkl. The trails lead through small forests, past huts and alpine pastures to the most beautiful viewpoints from where the panorama of many snow-white peaks and pristine, glistening slopes can be enjoyed.
Holders of a Kaiserwinkl Card can test ice skates free of charge at the Adventure Club in Kössen every Monday. Guided tours are available from the Zahmer Kaiser Ski School, Sport und Natur and the Adventure Club Kaiserwinkl on request.
Equipment can be hired from local sports shops or ski schools.
Ice sports in the Kaiserwinkl
Ice skaters and ice stock curlers find everything their heart desires in stunning surroundings only a 5 minutes‘ walk away from the centre on the natural ice rink in Walchsee. A very special experience is ice skating in moonlight. The ice rink will be lit in the evening especially for you on prior request thus offering unlimited ice skating fun.
The ice rink can be used free of charge in connection with the Kaiserwinkl Card. Ice skates can be hired directly next to the ice rink.
